西新宿の月 Nishi-Shinjuku Moon


西新宿の街を見つめるとき、私は何を見ているのだろうか。
When I gaze upon the streets of Nishi-Shinjuku, what am I truly seeing?

どの道を選んでも、どこまで歩いても、振り返っても、角を曲がっても。 都庁を中心とした巨大な建造物たちは、遠い月が車窓から離れないように、 この街を歩く私の視界から決して消えることはない。
No matter which path I choose, how far I walk, when I turn back, or round a corner—the towering structures centered around the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building never leave my sight, like a distant moon that refuses to part from a car window.

空虚な街角を切り取ろうとしても、静寂な歩道を撮ろうとしても、 人影まばらな交差点にカメラを向けても。必ずフレームのどこかに現れるその姿は、 もはや背景ではなく、それは西新宿という場所そのものだと感じる。
Whether I frame an empty street corner, capture a silent sidewalk, or point my camera at a sparsely populated intersection—their presence inevitably appears somewhere in the frame. They are no longer mere background; they have become Nishi-Shinjuku itself.

私が「西新宿の月」と呼ぶこの存在は、歩く者の知覚に静かに作用する。
それは、逃れることのできない都市と私の関係性なのだ。
This presence I call “Nishi-Shinjuku's Moon" quietly influences the perception of those who walk here.
It is the inescapable relationship between the city and myself.
